Coverage Definitions in Texas Auto Insurance

Bodily Injury & Property Damage Liability

When you are at fault in an accident, this coverage pays for injuries to the other parties and damage to their property. Coverage levels are generally expressed as “split limits”, such as 100/300/100. In this example up to $100,000 bodily injury coverage per person, up to $300,000 bodily injury for all persons, and up to $100,000 for property damage. There is a choice of limits you can select; we’ll review and help you determine these limits.

Uninsured & Underinsured Motorist

If you are in an accident where an uninsured person is at fault, this coverage will pay for your injury and damage to your automobile. It also will pay excess over a fault party’s coverage that is inadequate to cover your injuries. Let us further explain this often misunderstood and overlooked coverage. Uninsured Motorists also will repair your car if parked and hit by an unknown vehicle, a "hit run".

Collision Coverage

Covers the cost of repairing or replacing your vehicle subject to your deductible if the accident is your fault. The premium for Collision varies depending upon your deductible limits. Let’s look at different deductible levels. Remember, if someone else is at fault for the accident, their Bodily Injury and Property Damage Liability pays for your injury and repairs your auto. Generally you would file a claim on their insurance.

Comprehensive Coverage

Covers damage to your vehicle such as: broken glass, vandalism, theft, wind, hail, falling objects, and flood. Just like collision, you have a choice of deductibles.

Rental Reimbursement

Pays for a rental car when your car is being repaired under collision coverage due to a fault accident. Towing coverage is also available
